Newest cake player in town - Butter Boutique

Butter boutique aka BB is the newest cake player in town. Tucked away on the streets of Park Street mews is its newest outlet while their old outlet still reigns at Rosmead place. I’ve come to the conclusion that no trip of mine to Colombo is complete unless I drag myself to BB for a slice of heaven.

Their cakes are literally out of this world and it’s worth the price you pay considering how big the slice of cake is and the quality of the service they provide.

Every time I visit, their service improves considerably even though it was already at a remarkable state. They actually wait patiently for you to pick your cake.

Me being me, I’ve tried out almost all their cakes and the tres leches, red velvet, carrot cake, nutella cake, biscoff cookie butter cake are my all-time favourites.

Firstly, their tres leches priced at LKR 580 is your normal sponge cake soaked in three different kinds of milk. The lines on the topping of this cake screams originality of their version of this Mexican cake. This cake is always my go to at BB. You can never go wrong with it and it simply melts in your mouth. I call it ‘heaven on a plate’ because this is exactly what it is. I honestly think that this cake tops all the other cakes at BB.

The cream cheese frosting on the red velvet cake is just sorcery. I would pay for this cream cheese alone which itself elevates the cake. All in all, it was a good cake for 600 rupees

Following the tres leches and the red velvet is their carrot cake. I’ve tried carrot cakes from around the world and this cake actually balances the spice and the sweetness of the cake and it is better than other carrot cakes I’ve had so far. Another plus point is that it actually “has carrot” in it. There is no better way to spend 600 rupees than trying a slice of this amazing carrot cake.

The ambience of this place renders me speechless every single time. It is “THAT GOOD!” and most importantly it is a place which has made my non-cake friends into cake lovers. This should be your go to cake place if cake is what you seek.
